About

ABOUT 3B

We use instruments capable of sub-millimetre accuracy, and along with our rigorous checking and quality procedures in place, we guarantee first-time fit of all replacement pipe work, structures, equipment etc. This ensures that our clients have no need for re-work or indeed any ‘hot work’ in potentially dangerous environments.

Using state of the art Leica Total Stations, Laser Scanners and our own bespoke software, we have the survey staff capable of any survey task, from single spool surveys through to full FPSO/jacket construction surveys. The captured data can be transformed to a clients preferred format, offering quick and easy data evaluation and problem checking. As we offer a full draughting service, we can provide full 3D models, piping isometrics, 2D drawings or Point Cloud data from our Laser Scanners

3B Survey delivers the latest in 3D detailed laser scanning software and services for maintenance, brown-field and green-field projects. 3B offers its clients the ability to create accurate as-built information which can be modelled and rendered into CAD packages including Auto-plant, PDMS and NavisWorks.

Core Values

Dimensional control surveying is the technique and science whereby 3-Dimensional spaces are accurately measured to determine the area between points, creating digitally mapped distances and angles.

Dimensional control surveying has been used for decades in the world’s large jacket and fabrication facilities. However following the Piper Alpha disaster in the North Sea in 1988 in which 167 men lost their lives, Dimensional Control survey began to be used on offshore installations, as the subsequent enquiry found that one of the causes of the fire was naked flame from offshore fabrication, welding and grinding in a highly explosive environment. Dimensional Control survey eliminates the need for this.

At 3B our Core values are:

  • Safety
  • Teamwork
  • Customer Focus
  • Innovation
  • Integrity

Our Safety Record

From humble beginnings in 2007 with a staff of two surveyors and a crew of six riggers and welders in Aberdeen, to a worldwide staff of over 100, we are proud to say that in that time, 3B have had ZERO LTI’s and ZERO accidents in the field.

On the Marlin B project in Batam we recorded almost 8000 man hours again with ZERO LTI’s and ZERO accidents.

It is a record 3B management are rightly proud of and one which everyone at 3B intend to maintain.
